2014 = 2015 – 1.

As we rapidly approach 2015, it’s an expectation to look back and give thanks for what has been an incredible year.

It’s been a year of learning, experiencing and growing as a blog and as a band.

At the Deep Waters Worship Conference in October we managed, through God’s grace, to bring a freedom to worship with people from all over St Helens. There was a desire and a hunger from God’s people that shone through the whole day, a rare glimpse into the Kingdom amidst the daily grind. It was spectacular.

We’re thankful for Dr Jeremy Perigo, Debs Davies and Greg Schofield who shared amazing wisdom and insight throughout the day.

The Freedom Worship Band, which until July 2014 was merely a vision, fast evolved into a band of brothers (metaphorical of course). It went beyond it’s own vision and we have a truly exciting 2015 to come. I’m not going to call spoiler alert just yet, but things are in already in motion and we’re in place to be led in the spirit to do God’s work.

Back in our own church, there is a change coming. A big change. Like, huge. For a Church of England church, to have a vicar for over 10 years is somewhat of a rarity. As we approach the retirement of our Vicar after 21 years, there is a sense of tension, anxiety and apprehension. It’s not an easy place to be at the minute, but it’s also exciting at the same time. Our whole worship will change – the band dynamic, the song choices and the whole feel will change. Although it’s through uncertainty, forced change and apprehension, we will be transformed into stronger worshippers, and that’s what’s exciting.

I fell upon this verse this morning and I love the expectation in it. I think I’ll take it with me into 2015 In Hebrews 12:28, it says:

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

I think that the Kingdom is being built up all around us, and the promise is real. We just need to grab a shovel.

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

See you in the New Year,
God Bless,
The whole TFWB Team
